Climate Change in Local Preserves, Parks and Gardens

April 26, 2017 @ 7:00 pm

The Sierra Club is honored to present Dr. Constance M. Vadheim,  Emeritus Professor of Biology, CSUDH who will discuss a topic that affects all of us.  From hotter global temperatures, to droughts and erratic weather patterns, the evidence supporting climate change is occurring all around us.   But sometimes it’s difficult to apply the long-term projections to life closer to home.  In this talk, Dr. Vadheim will discuss the likely consequences of climate change in the South Bay and the rest of Western Los Angeles County.  She will present evidence suggesting likely changes on local temperature, precipitation, wind patterns and air pollution.   More importantly, she’ll then predict the consequences of these changes on local plant, animal and microbial life.   She will present scenarios from local green space areas as well as home gardens and food production.

Please join us April 26  at 7 PM in the community room of the Palos Verdes Library .  Refreshments will be served – for more info contact Joyce White 310-383-5247
