Paseo del Mar in San Pedro. Enter the free parking lot from the Western Blvd as it turns into Paseo del Mar. We are located at the end of the road on the left-hand side.  \nWe will be working outdoors\, so please wear closed-toed shoes\, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. SUMMARY:Dom Flemons - Grand Annex
DESCRIPTION:A multi-instrumentalist\, Flemons plays banjo\, guitar\, harmonica\, fife\, bones\, bass drum\, snare drum\, and quills. As co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops\, an African-American string band\, Flemons was able to explore his interest in bringing traditional music to new audiences. The band won a Grammy for its 2011 album Genuine Negro\, and in 2013 he earned the title Living Blues Most Outstanding Musician for banjo from Living Blues Magazine. \nFlemons has been performing solo since 2014. His music brings to life nearly 100 years of American folklore\, ballads\, and tunes. On stage\, he easily rolls from one instrument to another\, adding just enough historical context and commentary. As musician and ethnomusicologist\, Flemons digs deeply into the African American roots of American folk music\, jazz\, and blues and has toured the nation and the world presenting traditional folk and roots music to diverse audiences.   \n4:00 PM-5:00 PM Rhythm Bones Workshop- Learn the basics of playing the traditional Rhythm Bones. Hands on practice\, set of bones included in $20 fee. \nTickets
