SUMMARY:Italian Navy tall ship Amerigo Vespucci-Port of Los Angeles
DESCRIPTION:The majestic Italian Navy tall ship Amerigo Vespucci will visit the Port of Los Angeles for six consecutive days starting Wednesday\, July 3. Free tours are available and adjacent to the ship will be an expansive “Villaggio Italia\,” an Italian village featuring cultural food\, music\, art and activities. \nThe historic sailing ship and training vessel of the Italian Navy\, the Amerigo Vespucci will be docked at Berth 46 in the Port’s Outer Harbor. Tour reservations are required and can be made at https://tourvespucci.it/en/events/come-aboard/. \nNext to the vessel\, the Villaggio Italia will feature a “Piazza Italia” square with pavilions featuring daily performances\, exhibitions\, food and film all meant to capture the soul and beauty of Italy. The village will be open daily from 9 a.m.-10 p.m.\, except for Wednesday\, July 3 (4-10 p.m.) and Monday\, July 8 (9 a.m.-1 p.m.). \nHighlights of the six-day event include:\n•	Frecce Tricolori\, the Italian Air Force’s National Aerobatic Team\, will perform air show above Amerigo Vespucci. Air show times: 4 p.m. July 4; 7:15 p.m. July 6; 7 p.m. July 8.  \n•	Screenings of internationally successful Italian films\, selected by the Venice Biennale’s Mostra Internazionale del Cinema della Biennale di Venezia\, will occur on the evenings of July 4-7. \n•	Visitors will be able to enjoy cuisine from Eataly’s “Ristorante Italia” as well as cooking sessions\, conferences\, tastings and an immersive exhibition.  \n•	Daily music performances by Carabinieri’s Fanfara Cadet Team. \nThe Amerigo Vespucci began a two-year world tour last summer and has visited 15 countries on three continents. SUMMARY:4th of July Community Observance-Korean Bell
DESCRIPTION:47th Annual 4th of July Community Observance at the Korean Bell \nThe Annual San Pedro 4th of July Community Observance will be held on Thursday\, July 4\, 2024 at Angels Gate Park\, home of the Korean Friendship Bell. The Korean Bell\, one of San Pedro’s most enduring landmarks\, plays a key role in the ceremonial observance.  The ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM.   \nTo conclude the ceremonial portion of the day\, the assembled guest speakers and dignitaries will lead the audience in reciting the names of the 13 original American states. As they read the names\, the representatives of the San Pedro and Korean Communities will strike a battering ram into the massive bell\, ringing once for each state. The Korean Bell is rung officially on four other occasions each year – Korean Independence Day (August 15th) Constitution Day (September 21st)\, New Year’s Eve and Korean American Day (January 13th). \nAngels Gate Park is located at 3601 South Gaffey Street in San Pedro. The free event\, conducted every year since the Korean Bell’s installation in 1976 is sponsored by the Office of Councilmember Tim McOsker; the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks; the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce; and the Korean Friendship Bell Preservation Committee (KFBPC).
