DESCRIPTION:The annual National Maritime Day Observance and Memorial Service will be held at the American Merchant Marine Veterans Memorial & Walls of Honor\, located on Harbor Boulevard at the foot of 6th Street\, San Pedro\, on Tuesday\, May 22\, 2018\, starting at 11 a.m. National Maritime Day honors those American Merchant Mariners who have served their country in peace and war from the American Revolution to the present day.\nThe observance will include speakers representing State and Local offices as well as the U.S. Maritime Industry. In addition\, a memorial service will be held\, conducted by local clergy and Veterans groups\, honoring those U.S. Merchant Mariners who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the United States of America.\nA luncheon at Ports O’ Call restaurant at Berth 76\, San Pedro will follow the memorial service. The luncheon will feature a guest speaker associated with U.S. Maritime issues. DESCRIPTION:47th Annual 4th of July Community Observance at the Korean Bell \nThe Annual San Pedro 4th of July Community Observance will be held on Thursday\, July 4\, 2024 at Angels Gate Park\, home of the Korean Friendship Bell. The Korean Bell\, one of San Pedro’s most enduring landmarks\, plays a key role in the ceremonial observance.  The ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM.   \nTo conclude the ceremonial portion of the day\, the assembled guest speakers and dignitaries will lead the audience in reciting the names of the 13 original American states. As they read the names\, the representatives of the San Pedro and Korean Communities will strike a battering ram into the massive bell\, ringing once for each state. The Korean Bell is rung officially on four other occasions each year – Korean Independence Day (August 15th) Constitution Day (September 21st)\, New Year’s Eve and Korean American Day (January 13th). \nAngels Gate Park is located at 3601 South Gaffey Street in San Pedro. The free event\, conducted every year since the Korean Bell’s installation in 1976 is sponsored by the Office of Councilmember Tim McOsker; the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks; the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce; and the Korean Friendship Bell Preservation Committee (KFBPC).

This fireworks-alternative light show is people\, pet and environmentally friendly\, in honor of the late John Olguin’s legacy. DESCRIPTION:The Legends Vintage Car Club\nbegan with a group of like-minded individuals interested in classic automobiles. They meet monthly to share information about restoration and their classic cars which are all beautifully restored and lovingly maintained. The Legends wanted to expand the idea of their club to include helping their community in any way possible. \nToday\, they are a non-profit organization contributing to many local hospitals and charities dedicated to assisting those in need. The Club raises money every year with various activities including the Car Show by the Sea and the LAPD Christmas Toy Drive. \nAs a non-profit organization\, The Legends offer all a way to help assist our community by contributing with a tax deductible donation. The Legends Car Club of San Pedro is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a Filipino-American experience filled with vibrant performances\, delicious Filipino cuisine\, traditional arts\, and an incredible community spirit. FILAMARTS\, in partnership with the City of Los Angeles\, proudly presents the 30th Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) on Saturday\, September 14\, from 12 to 9 p.m. at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro\, CA.  “It’s time to celebrate\, discover\, and become part of a thriving community. The 30th anniversary theme is  “Ang Pagbabalik” – A Homecoming. It’s a testament to the enduring legacy of Filipino culture in Los Angeles and the power of community!” Giselle Tongi-Walters\, FILAMARTS Executive Director\,  proudly explained. \nGiovanni Ortega\, Festival Director\, added “ The momentous festival will provide a wide variety of pavilions ranging from seniors\, childrens\, ancestral and culinary and two stages\, a Main Stage and a Discovery Stage with simultaneous performances and panel discussions.” Point Fermin Park was where the Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) was held for 19 consecutive years in the past. The last two years\, FPAC was held at the Levitt Pavilion in MacArthur Park\, Los Angeles.  \nMAIN STAGE\nThis  year’s FPAC Main Stage will feature famous Filipino-American artists and cultural performers showcasing the essence of Filipino art and culture\, including musical acts like Joe Bataan\,  Roger Rigor of VST and Co. with Bootleg Orchestra\, Tia Carrere\, Bambu and Prometheus Brown a.k.a. Barkada\, Cheesa and Jake Zyrus\,  Ruby Ibarra’s Bolo Music Group and cultural performers like Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble\, Malaya Filipino American Dance Arts\, Rondalla Club of Los Angeles and Kayamanan ng Lahi. \nDISCOVERY STAGE\nIn festivals past\, there was always a second stage for newer performers.
