SUMMARY:Mara Kaye
DESCRIPTION:Mara Kaye \nA joyous phenomenon\, she becomes her songs… she doesn’t pose\, she doesn’t copy\, but her entrancing music pierces our hearts – Michael Steinman\, Jazz Lives \nReminiscent of the best acoustic blues singers of an earlier time\, Mara Kaye has a refreshing approach to the songs of Bessie Smith\, the Smith Sisters and more. Kaye will be joined at the Annex by Boogie-woogie piano legend\, Carl Sonny Leyland\, Jon Atkinson and Tim McNalley. \nAny sentence\, any phrase\, any word in the lyrics she sings and find some emotional energy to be transformed into a growl\, a coo\, a shout\, a quiver. – Clinton Davis\, The San Diego Troubadour \nCOVID-19 SAFETY AT THE GRAND ANNEX\nWe follow all LA City Covid-19 safety protocols. Until further notice\, vaccination records OR negative tests (within 48 hours for PCR\, within 24 hours for antigen) AND face masks are required for ages 2 and up.
