SUMMARY:Grand Re-opening of the Hey Rookie Pool
DESCRIPTION:Please join Councilman Buscaino next Tuesday afternoon for the grand re-opening of the Hey Rookie pool\, also known as the Gaffey St. pool. The historic pool was once a place where World War II soldiers used to gather to watch synchronized swimming shows. After construction delays due to the discovery of World War II era tunnels\, the pool will re-open for the summer season.  \nThe reconstruction included the refurbishment of the existing historical 110-foot by 50-foot\, 5\,500 square-foot\, swimming pool in addition to the construction of a 4\,470 square-foot bathhouse with a pool equipment room.  Additional improvements include handicapped access ramps and stairs\, walkways\, access road\, parking areas\, seating\, exhibit panels and plaque\, hillside grading\, landscaping and irrigation and a new event concrete terrace.
