He currently attends University of Michigan and is studying with the great Benny Green\, who was a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Sam has opened for such artists as Marcus Miller and the Funky Knuckles. He has also worked/recorded with musicians such as saxophonist Albert Alva (educator whose recording credits include Rosemary Clooney and Louie Bellson) and Robert “Sput” Seawright (of Grammy-Award-winning band “Snarky Puppy”). \nSam has performed at Alva’s in the past with a sextet. As of lately\, he has been writing music for trio. He is excited to bring this new group to Alva’s for an epic performance and celebration of his birthday. The night will consist of all original music ranging from funk\, soul\, straight-ahead jazz\, and more.
