DESCRIPTION:Thin Man Entertainment’s Jazz Salon\, featuring THE GREAT MS BARBARA MORRISON\, with Henry “The Skipper” Franklin\, Drummer Al Williams\, and special guests! \nMorrison is known for a melodic voice and a three-and-a-half-octave range. She interprets a familiar jazz and blues classics repertoire in a unique style\, and also sings original contemporary tunes. One example of her original music is “I Wanna Be Loved”\, co-written with Michael Cormier\, which is a musical theatre production about the life and times of Dinah Washington\, Queen of the Blues. \nOver the years she has performed with many renowned jazz and blues musicians\, including legends such as Gerald Wilson\, Dizzy Gillespie\, and Ray Charles. Morrison has also guest-starred with the Count Basie Orchestra\, the Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra and Doc Severinsen’s Big Band. Morrison also performs many well-known blues and jazz festivals around the world. \nHENRY “The Skipper” FRANKLIN has performed with many headline artists including Al Jarreau\, Stevie Wonder\, Count Basie\, Freddie Hubbard and Milt Jackson and was part of the legendary Hugh Masekelas band during the late 1960s. \nThere are more than 100 albums on which Henry appears\, with many of them produced under his leadership. They include: The Skipper and The Skipper at Home (Black Jazz label)\, Three Card Molly\, Bassic Instincts\, The Hunter\, Bass Encounters (Resurgent Music label)\, Colemanology\, Ears Wide Open\, Three Worlds\, A Musical Tribute to Gene Harris featuring Three More Sounds\, Summer Serenade (Beezwax Records)\, Shalabongo\, We Came to Play (Jeru Records)\, Tribal Dance (Catalyst Records)\, Blue Lights (Ovation Records)\, Sakura (WJ3 Records)\, All God’s Children (SP Records)\, Music to the 5th Power (SP Records)\, 3Bop (SP Records)\, If We Should Meet Again (SP Records)\, O\, What a Beautiful Morning! Henry also published a method book for all bass players entitled\, Bassically Yours. \nAL WILLIAMS drummer\, entrepreneur and promoter of jazz\, has a well-earned reputation as a musical mover and shaker.Whether it be bebop\, blues\, funk\, straight ahead\, or Latin\, he creates rhythmic artistry and power which support the melody line and command listener involvement. Early experience included touring as a percussionist with the Jennie LeGon Caribbean Dance Troupe. This event is presented by the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce and is a free event to the community. \n Grand Marshall: MARK WALLENGREN \nBorn in Utah\, Mark Wallengren and his family moved to Southern California when his mother was hired as a staff writer for NBC’s Wonderful World Of Disney. Growing up around the entertainment industry peaked his interest early on and inspired him to pursue his passion for radio. Mark is an accomplished KOST veteran where he now shares his wisdom and humor with millions of loyal listeners every afternoon. \nCommunity Grand Marshall:  DOMINIC COSTA \nDomenic Costa was born and raised in San Pedro.  He attended Mary Star Elementary and High School.  He started his teaching and coaching career at Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles.  After nine years\, he was asked to come coach and teach at San Pedro High School.  He was honored to coach with the legendary Mike Walsh.  During all of that time he and his wife\, Pam Costa\, had two phenomenal children\, Lauren and Jacob.  He needed to take some time off from coaching to watch his children grow and succeed.  After 21 years at San Pedro High School\, he has taught and mentored the students at Angel’s Gate High School from 2013 to the present. \nParade Route
