DESCRIPTION:SAN SALVADOR\, the fully rigged replica of the first European ship to sail up the California coast in 1542\, will visit the Los Angeles Maritime Museum October 6-11. The event is sponsored by the Port of Los Angeles Community Investment Grant Program and the Friends of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. \nThe original SAN SALVADOR was a Spanish galleon built on the western coast of New Spain (modern Mexico and Guatemala) and captained by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo\, who was in search of a new trading route to China.   The replica was built by skilled craftsmen and volunteers of the Maritime Museum of San Diego\, and launched in 2016.  \nTour the Ship: SAN SALVADOR will be open to the public for dockside tours October 6-8 from 10am – 4pm.
