Unión\, which will sail into the Port of Los Angeles Main Channel on Wednesday\, June 19\, at approximately 8 a.m. The arrival marks the first-ever visit of the Unión to the Port of Los Angeles. \nCommissioned in 2016\, the 378-foot\, four-mast training ship of the Peruvian Navy was built to provide cadets hands-on sailing experience\, while also exposing trainees to different countries and cultures along the way. Approximately 250 officers and cadets will be aboard the Unión when it arrives at Berth 91 at the Los Angeles World Cruise Terminal on Wednesday. The vessel is homeported in Lima\, Peru’s capital. \nThe Unión will be open for free public tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Thursday\, Friday and Saturday\, June 20-22. Tours will be on a first-come\, first-serve basis. DESCRIPTION:43rd Annual 4th of July Community Observance at the Korean Bell \nThe Annual San Pedro 4th of July Community Observance will be held Thursday\, July 4\, 2019 at Angels Gate Park\, home of the Korean Friendship Bell. The Korean Bell\, one of San Pedro’s most enduring landmarks\, plays a key role in the ceremonial observance.  The ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM with a processional to the bell led by percussion drummers. The ceremony includes the posting of the colors and remarks by elected officials and members of the Korean community.    \nTo conclude the ceremonial portion of the day\, the assembled guest speakers and dignitaries will lead the audience in reciting the names of the 13 original American states. As they read the names\, the representatives of the San Pedro and Korean Communities will strike a battering ram into the massive bell\, ringing once for each state. The Korean Bell is rung officially on four other occasions each year – Korean Independence Day (August 15th) Constitution Day (September 21st)\, New Year’s Eve and Korean American Day (January 13th). \nAngels Gate Park is located at 3601 South Gaffey Street in San Pedro.
