This year’s theme is Halloween in June\, complete with professional costumed visitors\, a Trunk-or-Treat experience with world famous Star Cars– vehicles from stage and screen\, and a costume contest for those who come dressed for fun! \nSeal Day is happening at Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturday\, June 22nd.  \nBring your appetite too! Some of the region’s most popular food truck eateries will be attending! Popular exhibitor booths will include Sea Shepherd Conservation Society\, El Dorado Nature Center\, plus many local environmental groups that will be giving lectures and demonstrations throughout the day. \nEveryone is encouraged to come in costume and join in the fun! Live music performances will be happening all day (sponsored by the Parrot Head Club) plus special appearances by singer/pianist Flaviyake. DESCRIPTION:43rd Annual 4th of July Community Observance at the Korean Bell \nThe Annual San Pedro 4th of July Community Observance will be held Thursday\, July 4\, 2019 at Angels Gate Park\, home of the Korean Friendship Bell. The Korean Bell\, one of San Pedro’s most enduring landmarks\, plays a key role in the ceremonial observance.  The ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM with a processional to the bell led by percussion drummers. The ceremony includes the posting of the colors and remarks by elected officials and members of the Korean community.    \nTo conclude the ceremonial portion of the day\, the assembled guest speakers and dignitaries will lead the audience in reciting the names of the 13 original American states. As they read the names\, the representatives of the San Pedro and Korean Communities will strike a battering ram into the massive bell\, ringing once for each state. The Korean Bell is rung officially on four other occasions each year – Korean Independence Day (August 15th) Constitution Day (September 21st)\, New Year’s Eve and Korean American Day (January 13th). \nAngels Gate Park is located at 3601 South Gaffey Street in San Pedro. DESCRIPTION:Become a kitten foster and save lives!  \nLA Animal Services receives thousands of young kittens every year. Fostering is a fun\, temporary commitment that makes a huge lifesaving impact at our City shelters. This is a great way to be a big hero to a tiny soul and help make L.A. a no-kill city! \nReady to get started? Print and bring your completed Foster Application and photo ID to your nearest LA City Animal Services Center or ask for a Foster Application at any of our six shelters. We’ll set you up with an adorable kitten or kittens to begin fostering right away! \nIf you are already an approved Foster Volunteer\, let your shelter know when you are available to care for some kittens. \nFoster Volunteers are needed for: \nMomma cats with nursing kittens\nUnweaned kittens (bottle feeders)\nYoung kittens eating on their own\nFoster volunteers are the future of life-saving. If you are available for a couple of weeks or a month\, please help orphaned kittens get the chance they need for a happy life.
