SUMMARY:The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the home of the world’s largest lobster festival\, The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival\, winner of four Guinness World Records. We feature fresh discount Maine lobster meals flown in fresh daily and cooked on the spot\, and plenty of free entertainment. Lobster lovers can tour the USS IOWA or just marvel the grand drama of America’s largest port. After feasting on our world famous discount Maine lobster meals\, lobster rolls\, lobster mac & cheese\, lobster quesadillas and more. Our guests enjoy dancing\, street performers\, tall ships berthed nearby\, shopping for arts and crafts\, and musical performances by some of today’s best up-and-coming acts. \nWe are easy to find at the end of the 110 Harbor Freeway in San Pedro\, California at the Cruise Ship Terminal at the intersection of Swinford Street and Harbor Blvd. Only 20 minutes south of downtown Los Angeles. Free parking and shuttles at our remote lots! Convenient paid parking within walking distance of the festival entrance. \n\n\n9 pm – The Colourist are at their peak with strong\, melodic anthems like “Yes Yes” and the excellent “Fix This\,” both examples of the kind of intelligent\, well-constructed pop that’s getting radio play across the country. It’s the sound of a high-end indie rock band breaking out into the mainstream. Big things are coming for The Colourist\, don’t miss them as they headline Saturday night at the Lobster Festival.\n\n8 pm – Kitten Kitten’s new EP has been described as a “lush slice of goth-trimmed dream pop” and a “Ronnie Spector love letter”. But the truth is that lead singer Chloe Chaidez is one of the most original vocalists on the indie scene today. Her incredible range promises new surprises with every performance. We can’t wait to hear what she has planned for the Lobster Festival.\n\n7 pm – Leslie Stevens Americana/Roots music with a lot of smarts is why we love Leslie Stevens. Who else would write a song called “Everybody Drinks and Drives in Heaven”? NPR says “her soft clear voice remains the focal point\, while her alt-country sounds recalls the Laurel Canyon days of the Flying Burrito Brothers.” Well maybe we’ll just tweak that a bit to fit our festival and call it the Flying Lobster Roll Sisters.\n6 pm – Blondfire Bye bye June gloom\, this is the sunniest music you’ll hear in July. Blondfire paints a wave of joy with light-hearted guitars and bass lines that any indie pop/rock aficionado can get lost in. Add body moving rhythms and delectable vocals\, and you’ve got your next favorite daydream. Blondfire has a little something for everyone and is bound to be a Lobster Festival favorite.\n5 pm – Dear Boy In the past few years\, Dear Boy has acquired a devoted live following by headlining venues such as The Troubadour and The Bootleg Theater\, as well as performing at Austin’s SXSW in 2014 and 2015. Nationally\, they’ve supported acts such as Kitten\, The Dears\, Cloud Nothings\, The Airborne Toxic Event\, The Maccabees\, Peter Murphy\, NO\, Meg Myers\, Fenech Soler\, X-Ambassadors\, INVSN\, and Night Terrors of 1927. Don’t miss your chance to see or hear this awesome band!\n\n4 pm – Rebel Light Clash Music says of The Rebel Light\, “It often appears as a land of eternal sunshine\, the Hollywood dream made real. Of course\, it’s not quite as simple as that\, but the fantasy remains. The Rebel Light seem to imbue the light side of Los Angeles. A band in thrall to golden guitar pop\, their psych-edged material recalls (early) Shins or even British group Temples. Byrds-style guitar riffs are set against gilded harmonies\, with The Rebel Light adding that vital sense of edge.New single ‘Strangers’ was recorded at home\, with the vocals being laid down in the bathroom and the drum parts recorded in a woodshed.”\n3 pm – Banta “buzzbands.la says about Banta: “If you thought Banta’s “Dark Charms” was a Fleetwood Mac B-side at first listen\, you wouldn’t be alone. The Echo Park-based indie pop sextet’s songs embody so much of the same smooth pop folk-rock swing we’ve got a hunch that their self-titled EP (slated for a June release) is only the tip of the iceberg. There’s both charm and a fierceness in their songs that will have you grooving long after listening.”\n2 pm – Hawai When one hears the word HAWAI\, a thought enters their mind: sunshine\, rain\, vacation\, relaxing\, honeymoon\, all-inclusive resorts\, beaches\, volcanoes\, coffee\, luau’s\, palm trees…all of which you would use to describe the 50th state admitted to the union. However\, when you listen to the sounds of the band HAWAI\, it’s a tad bit trickier to pin point exactly how you feel. It’s familiar but fresh\, unique but still recognizable\, bright yet strikingly emotional.\n\n1 pm – Honey County Some of you may remember young Devon Eisenbarger’s performance a few years ago at the Lobster Festival. Still in high school at the time she brought the festival to a stop with her guitar and powerful blues vocals. Devon’s back as part of the trio Honey County\, taking over the LA country music scene with lead vocalist Danni Rosner and Leann Skoda. This is going to be another show stopping performance. And who knows\, our Lobster Line Dancing Flashmob may even make a special appearance…

And who does it better than The Hula Girls? No one of course. It’s up-tempo hapa haole\, tiki\, and surf themed music\, all filtered through the late 1950’s and early 60’s rockabilly and rock n’ roll sound filter. Some have said that going to a Hula Girls show is like going to a “Luau in Memphis!” It’s a Lobster Luau!\n\n8 pm – Decorations – translate frustration into sun-kissed\, slick\, and sharp anthems that everybody could dance their troubles away to like “Nu wave without all the sadness.” Their full-length debut\, Have Fun\, was released June 2016. Come see what main man Devon Geyer has created.\n\n7 pm – Scott Whyte Band – When he’s not off making movies (Tequila Sunrise\, The Mighty Ducks D2 and D3 and too many more to list) you’ll find Scott at Shark’s Cove\, his favorite Manhattan Beach home town hangout making music. Scott’s got you covered this year as he opens our weekend of music for the early show on Friday night.
