SUMMARY:Closing Reception  SPAA Harbor Wide Student Art Competition
DESCRIPTION:The San Pedro Art Association invites everyone to attend the closing reception for the Harbor Wide Student Art Competition.  \nThis years show has been by far our best yet. We are very proud of all the students that took part in the show. So proud that we are holding a closing reception to honor all the students on last time. \nWe encourage all students to attend the reception. All the students that were unable to attend the opening reception will receive prizes\, art supplies and more. We would encourage all of the students and families to attend as there is an opportunity to win cash prizes in our People Choice award and honorable mention. \nStudents will be able to take their art work home with them at the close of the reception. Any unclaimed art will be returned to the school or youth organization it was submitted from. \nLunch will be served to all that attend.

SUMMARY:An Evening With SPAA Artist Teri Ledyard
DESCRIPTION:San Pedro Art Association is proud to announce the upcoming artist reception of Teri Ledyard. The show and reception will be at The San Pedro Convention and Visitors Center.\nSPAA artist Teri Ledyard is now showing her paintings at The San Pedro Visitors and Convention Center. Everyone is invited to stop by. Light refreshments will be served.  \nArtist Bio:\nTeri Ledyard was born in 1963 in Cleveland\, Ohio. As a child she was influenced by her father who painted in oils and charcoal. She was an honor student in art while in high school\, until an accident where her hand went thru a window severing her wrist. To this day has left her with no feeling in her first three digits of her right hand. With hard work and perseverance she has overcome the loss of feeling and can create beautiful works of art in her true to life style. With the untimely death of her Father at a young age and a move to California shortly thereafter with her Mother and two siblings funding was not available for any formal education. She is self taught and influenced by great artists such as Alfonse Mucha and Olivia De Berardinas. Her love for painting the human form in acrylics has led her to being the portrait artist she is today which has evolved into her own style of photo realism. Teri’s first art showing was in 2006 in the Los Angeles Art District. Encouraged by her friend and fellow artist where she was well received among the diversity of other artists. She currently resides in downtown San Pedro near the many galleries and artist lofts where she has found greater inspiration to paint. You can find her at the Farmers Market socializing with fellow artist while she does one of her many numerous talents henna tattooing. Art Is….. “Creative use of the hands from the mind’s eye for all to see…. Using the right side of the brain is a limitless gift to be shared with all… It’s the spirit of one’s self reaching out for expression…what you perceive to be aesthetic.”

SUMMARY:Art Classes for Kids
DESCRIPTION:SAN PEDRO ART ASSOCIATION will be sponsoring ongoing art classes in several mediums including painting\, assemblage and collage.  They will be held at OUR CREATIONS crafting store on 6th street in the heart of downtown San Pedro’s art district.  \nThe tutorial is $6.00 per class per student.  This includes a one and a half hour comprehensive session with a qualified teacher in their craft.  They will give the students the fundamental tools and their own trade secrets to bring out the artist that’s already in them.  They’ll have the opportunity to create their own unique pieces with the materials already provided for the initial class such as acrylics\, brushes and canvas.  Students may purchase at extremely reasonable starving “artist’s” prices their own private sets at OUR CREATIONS to complete their projects and for future use.        \nWe are thrilled to offer this awesome opportunity to our student members and the artist community in hopes of helping to foster and share in the heart of classic downtown San Pedro the burgeoning spirit of art and culture that it once was and that it still deserves.\nThe first class will be Acrylics on Canvas\nOpen to all middle school students. \nThe instructor for the first session will be\nCarlos Anthony Boisselle whose works may be viewed directly at\nLe Grand Salon 479 W. 6th St.
