Enter the haunted corridor surrounded by the barks and spooks of our marine mammal patients.\nAbout this Event\nWith Trick-or-treating for the little ones\, adult treats too\, a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest – The Marine Mammal SCARE Center is sure to be a delight and a fright! The most exciting part of the attraction will be our recovering seal and sea lion patients on display for your enjoyment. \nBring a trick-or-treat bag and drop off your pumpkin by 10 am on Saturday morning for entry into our pumpkin contest. Face Coverings are required for entry. Due to COVID-19\, each family will get a scheduled time slot and will be directed through the corridor during their one hour visit to the Center. \nYou will get the link to sign up for a time slot after you buy your ticket.

Seal Day festivities will feature outdoor animal viewing\, live music\, food trucks\, games for kids and dozens of booths from a wide range of community organizations. This year’s theme is Halloween in June\, complete with professional costumed visitors\, a Trunk-or-Treat experience with world famous Star Cars– vehicles from stage and screen\, and a costume contest for those who come dressed for fun! \nSeal Day is happening at Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturday\, June 22nd.  \nBring your appetite too! Some of the region’s most popular food truck eateries will be attending! Popular exhibitor booths will include Sea Shepherd Conservation Society\, El Dorado Nature Center\, plus many local environmental groups that will be giving lectures and demonstrations throughout the day. \nEveryone is encouraged to come in costume and join in the fun! Live music performances will be happening all day (sponsored by the Parrot Head Club) plus special appearances by singer/pianist Flaviyake. Seal Day 2019 will also have hand-painted sea lion sculptures up for auction along with a chance to meet and greet with the local artists that created them for the event! \n“In addition to the food\, exhibitor booths and live entertainment\, visitors will have the rare opportunity to view seals and sea lions as they rehabilitate from their injuries or illnesses\, browse our new Mobile Visitors Center\, buy souvenirs in our trendy outdoor gift shop\, make donations to support our hospital work\, and even learn how to become a volunteer. SUMMARY:26th Annual SEAL DAY
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating its 26th year\, SEAL DAY at Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles continues to be an annual event that invites our supporters and new visitors to our “open house.” \nThis event allows visitors that day to further discover that the work we do not only benefits our marine mammal patients\, but also educates the public and our visitors about why our patients are there in the first place. \nTo help inform our visitors at this family friendly event\, the day consists of guest lecturers\, films\, narrated rehabilitation demonstrations\, and theme related children’s activities. There is also plenty of literature and other goodies handed out to take home. \nVolunteers are on hand to answer questions in our patient viewing area where visitors can see how the patients are rehabilitating. \nTo further heighten the visitor experience\, MMCC LA collaborates with over 30 other like-minded organizations that are set up in booths to inform them on environmental and ocean health topics. This also helps promote the importance of community awareness and assists in making Seal Day a special event for Los Angeles County and its coastal communities. \nTo add to this “festival atmosphere\,” food trucks are onsite to make sure that there are refreshments\, as well as music and entertainment to keep the event lively with opportunity drawings and activities. \nFor 2018\, MMCC LA will be adding a new element to Seal Day – the “Anime Pavilion.” We hope this attraction will add to the fun atmosphere and bring new visitors and potential donors to an even more festive experience.

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday June 25th from 11AM – 4PM\, MMCC will be celebrating 25 years of marine mammal rehabilitation by holding our annual Seal Day Festival. \nThis is MMCC’s annual educational open house where we welcome supporters\, donors\, and first time visitors to get acquainted with us and the work we do – and having fun at the same time! \nHighlights this year include guest speakers\, movie screenings\, crafts & games\, live music\, educational booths\, great food\, and merchandise from vendors and nonprofit organizations. \nLast year’s festival hosted over 1\,400 visitors\, who participated in activities such as “gruel making\,” opportunity drawings\, and exploring the facility while visiting our patients. \nAs this is a free event\, everyone is encouraged to bring friends and family. If you don’t want to pack a picnic lunch\, food trucks and booths will be on site. \nParking will be available in all areas surrounding MMCC. Entrance will be from 32nd Street off Gaffey in San Pedro. Parking attendants will guide visitors in.
