San Salvador @ LA Maritime Museum

SAN SALVADOR, the fully rigged replica of the first European ship to sail up the California coast in 1542, will visit the Los Angeles Maritime Museum October 6-11. The event is sponsored by the Port of Los Angeles Community Investment Grant Program and the Friends of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum.

The original SAN SALVADOR was a Spanish galleon built on the western coast of New Spain (modern Mexico and Guatemala) and captained by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who was in search of a new trading route to China. The replica was built by skilled craftsmen and volunteers of the Maritime Museum of San Diego, and launched in 2016.

Tour the Ship: SAN SALVADOR will be open to the public for dockside tours October 6-8 from 10am – 4pm. Ticket price includes ship tour, access to shore side exhibits, and entry to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum.

Sail aboard SAN SALVADOR :Four-hour day sails leaving from the Los Angeles Maritime Museum will be offered October 9-11.
