Chamber Virtual Business Awards and Board Installation
June 24 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
The past year was extremely difficult and the business community faced many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our San Pedro business community stood together to meet the challenge and help one another survive during these unprecedented times. It is time to celebrate our business community and our recovery efforts as we look forward to better times ahead.
The San Pedro Chamber of Commerce 2021 Annual Business Award honorees all exemplify excellence in business and leadership during the pandemic:
2021 Leadership Award Recipients: Tim McOsker, Chairman, Board of Directors San Pedro Historic Waterfront Business Improvement District; and Aksel Palacios, Planning & Economic Development Deputy, Office of Councilmember Joe Buscaino, 15th District, City of Los Angeles for outstanding work on the implementation of the downtown San Pedro outdoor dining program. The partnership and leadership of the PBID and the Council Office in the midst of a pandemic helped save our independent restaurant community in San Pedro.
2021 Non-Profit of the Year: Boys and Girls Club of the LA Harbor is being honored for the tremendous work done delivering services to families in need in the midst of a pandemic while maintaining virtual and in person club services. The club was the lifeline for thousands of youth and their families in the harbor area.
2021 Small Business of the Year: Subterranean Hair for their standard of excellence, dedication to safety protocols during the pandemic, continuing education, chamber engagement, and community work. Small businesses are the backbone of communities, and owners Rosemary and Mitchel Wilson truly exemplify the entrepreneurial spirt lead the way in small business development.
2021 Business of the Year: The Port of Los Angeles under the leadership of Gene Seroka is being recognized for their work in developing and implementing the Logistics Victory Los Angeles response effort. The Port truly helped in the fight against COVID-19 in our communities by matching suppliers of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with Los Angeles area health care providers. The Chamber is grateful for these efforts, and we also appreciate the expanded operations to include businesses and organizations in need of PPE.
