Discovery Princess, the newest ship in the Princess fleet, arrives at the Port of Los Angeles this Saturday morning to begin her inaugural season of Mexican Riviera and California Coast voyages.
The 3,660-guest ship embodies the signature style and luxury of the Princess fleet and uses the latest technologies to reduce fuel consumption, treat wastewater, and support the company’s environmental compliance efforts.
Discovery Princess will homeport from Los Angeles through April 29, then sail north to begin a season of seven-day Alaska cruises from Seattle. Princess cruises has been sailing from the Port of Los Angeles – home of “The Love Boat” – since 1965, and sails from L.A. more frequently than any other cruise line.
An estimated 250 cruises will depart from the LA Waterfront in San Pedro this year – the most since 2008. Each cruise ship call generates more than $1 million in local and regional economic activity.
